5 TIPS FOR BETTER MOMMING

Let me preface this with the following points:

- I am nowhere, I repeat, NOWHERE near close to being a perfect mom (I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing)

- I have only been doing this less than 3 years, so seriously, I don't really know what I'm doing

- I only have 2 kids, so...you get the point. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing.

- These are simply things that I have realized help me through this crazy journey of motherhood, and I thought that maybe they could help you. Take 'em or leave 'em! :)

Here it goes.

1. Wake up before your kids.

This one is so so easy for me to say, because my kids are on a ridiculous schedule due to baseball. They go to bed super late, and wake up super late. But! When I wake up before my kids, I'm able to get myself ready, get a few small chores or tasks done, or even start breakfast. I like to get up, and clean up whatever I missed the night before, or maybe pack up the diaper bag etc, so that when the kids are up and we need to head out the door, all I have to worry about is them!

2. Get dressed, woman!

I'm seriously the queen of yoga pants, or no pants. I could stay in them all day, and sometimes I do, but when I get out of bed and get dressed I am infinitely more productive. When I'm wearing "real" clothes, I am so much more motivated to get out of the house and get things done. Even if I don't get makeup on that day (which is 6/7 days of the week) I don't want to be lazy and lay around the house like I do when I'm wearing pjs all day.

3. Exercise.

Let's be honest, this is the most difficult one of all. While it's hard to motivate myself to get dressed, it's even harder to motivate myself to get moving. Whether it's a simple walk to the park, a workout video you found on YouTube, or a trip to the gym, get up and get moving! I am so much happier and SO much more energized when I get some type of exercise in during the day.

4. Don't eat Chick Fil A every day of the week.

I need to work on this one. There are so many times where I've been so busy making sure the kids are happy and fed, that I've forgotten to feed myself. Not only this, but if I do get something it's quick and not the most nutritious. My husband is a health nut, so we do a pretty good job of not having too much junk food around the house. Fueling your body is SO important!

5. Put your phone down.

I also need to work on this one. But each day I designate one hour where I put my phone out of sight and out of mind. It seems silly, that it's just one hour! Seriously, moms have a lot of crap to do during the day, so even that one hour to truly engage and interact with my kids while ignoring everything else is so special to me and my relationship with them. So I'm challenging you, try it! Do it for a few days, or a week, and you'll notice that it becomes easier and easier each time!

These probably weren't new to you, or maybe they were, but sometimes we all need a good reminder of things we can do to be better! What are some things you do that you have noticed help you to be a better, more productive you?
