diy? d-i-YES

Furnishing a new house can be really exhausting, and expensive. I don't mind splurging a little on big items that I know we'll have for a while and want to last, but I just can't get myself to spend lots on all of the little details. Plus, they can add up quickly as it is!

I've been on the hunt for a console table for our front entryway. I've scoured the internet, but since I'm cheap I didn't want to spend very much, I found nothing. The last few days I tore apart a gazillion local consignment stores only to find nothing but cheesy, fancy tables that were NOT what I was looking for. So, I took matters into my own hands and headed to Home Depot.

My friend Lauren met me there and we spent a good hour and a half in the store, trying to make sure we got all of the right pieces for this table that I envisioned in my head. Spoiler alert: we didn't. Anyways...

As we were checking out, there was a man behind us in line. He kind of chuckled under his breath and commented rudely, "Looks like you ladies have been watching too many DIY shows." Of course I said something back to the extent of, "Yep I'm going to be the next star!" To which he replied something about people trying to do things themselves and having to end up calling him to fix or finish it.

Moral of this story? Forget people like that snooty man and DIY! Not only is it SO much fun to do things yourself, but it's usually cheaper, and you always end up loving and appreciating the piece 100x more than you would had you bought it! That man can kiss my doing-it-myself booty.

Here are a few consoles that I love, and helped inspire my diy project:

Can't wait to share my table with you guys!
